On to the Next Big Thing

So... I have very exciting news! This summer, I will be studying religion in fantasy literature in London, England. I'll be staying in the FSU owned flats, which are just a few minutes from the West End, the major theatre district in London. I am so stoked to have the amazing opportunity to be analyzing some of my favorite stories where they created, in a place with rich history and the perfect setting for unique adventures. I'm also pumped to be living in close proximity to the best older brother in the world for a month, as it's been nearly 10 years since we've lived in the same state, let alone country! For my program, I'll be studying the works of J.K. Rowling (!!!), J.R. Tolkien (!!!), C.S. Lewis (!), and Phillip Pullman (...?), as well as exploring the places these works were inspired by. Additionally, we'll be taking a weekend jaunt to Edinburgh, Scotland, which I've been told is one of the most beautiful places in the world. While I've been l

Cat Cafe Tour of America

Hi. I like cats. Like, a lot. You know what else I like? Trendy cafes. Thankfully for me, these two things have been colliding in city after city here in America. Cat cafe's technically originated in Taiwan, but really took hold when they made their way to Japan. After many successful establishments popped up there, they traveled to New York and have spread like wildfire ever since. The basic idea is that you can roll up to this coffee shop, eat your pastries, relish your morning Joe, cuddle cats, and not have to deal with the downsides of pet ownership. Many cat cafes donate a portion of the money for your visit to local shelters, and house adoptable cats for people to bond with and provide a forever home to. Java Cats- Atlanta, Georgia As a cat owner, I was excited to hear about this little bit of heaven on Earth, but I also recognized all that could go wrong here. Many cats are very social, but they have a threshold. When they're done with you- they're done. Also,

Proud Cat Mom

Ya'll, I am so excited to announce that there has been a new addition to the family. Please welcome my sweet feline child- Amaya! Amaya, which means "nighttime rain" in Japanese, (apparently, I guess I wouldn't know if I was wrong) was born August 14th to a cat of a family friend. I have gotten to see this sweet baby grow since the day she was born, and I was just over the moon last Tuesday when I finally got to meet her for myself. Amaya's favorite things to do are play with her BB-8 toy and chomp on her mom's hair. When she gets tired, she usually passes out on my lap to restore energy to go on a kitten-insanity rampage around my room again. When she attacks her toys, she makes odd chirps that I like to call her "Pokemon noises" because there really is no better way to describe the weird sounds she can do. It honestly gets creepy at night when I hear her preparing to pounce on my feet and do her little alien scream, but she's so cute

Irma Gerd, Please Send Help

Post Irma, classes have been crazy. After having a week blown right off the schedule, professors have been cramming double coursework into every nook and cranny that they can... I've had between 4-7 assignments due a night, a quiz, essay, or exam in at least one class every day. It has not been fun. I am very stressed. I think I need some Insomnia Cookies. (Surely there is no problem that cookies can't fix, right?) Despite barely having a minute to breathe, I've made time to at least take some care of myself. Now those of you who have had the delight of being around me at all since I've been here in Florida know that I swear up and down by yoga. Yeah I know, just like every other millennial who is obsessed with tea, avocado toast, and cat cafes, I'm into yoga. But I wanted to share a video that I really think may help some of my fellow stressed college students. I'm totally in love with this girl and all of her yoga videos, she is so positive and supportiv

When September Ends

Good morning! It's the last week of September and I am so very ready for Halloween season to get into full gear. When the clock strikes midnight and the 1st is officially here, I will be watching Hocus Pocus, baking pumpkin bread, and decorating the apartment. (And probably trying to train myself to enjoy Pumpkin Spice Lattes.) This year I will be making a trip down to Orlando to visit Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party, so of course I had to craft some Mickey Ears for my mom and I. After many glue gun burns, I'm pretty happy with how they turned out. Very trendy. Very fall. Now let's hope the hot glue holds on throughout our trip! We'll be going on the weekend after next, and you can bet I'll be indulging in every pumpkin treat I come across. (Mickey Pumpkin Beignets, please please Disney, don't let me down with the Mickey Pumpkin Beignets.) The first weekend of October will surely be a grande entrance into my 2nd favorite season- now I'l
